Kitchen Queen...

Ok I sorta stole that title from Mrs. Gibby..and her little group of Kitchen Queens, and to be honest I am no where close to being a queen in the kitchen...but I have been trying..Mom & Granny you would be proud! I knew that this weekend would be really low key so I had the time and patience to try my hand at being a domestic goddess!

Last night I made Kendall's Chicken Caprese, which I have made before but the second time around was even better, it always helps when you know the ingredients and steps and I just happened to have all of it in the kitchen anyways so it was a quick and easy yet delicious dinner!

One of my favorite memories from my childhood was Sunday lunch at Granny's house after church. I loved that we always got to change from our church clothes into play clothes, I loved knowing that my Dad and Paw-Paw were relaxing in the yard or the living room while my mom and aunts were gathered in the kitchen with Granny where she was busy cooking away. Meanwhile, my siblings and I made mud pies in the back yard (maybe this was an indication of my future cooking skills?? or lack thereof haha). The comfort that came in that routine every Sunday is something that I will always fondly remember. Now I am in no place to ever re-create the amazing Southern Dishes that Granny would serve during Sunday lunches but I do want to make a habit of making homeade lunch on Sundays. There's something special about being able to share an afternoon meal with family or loved ones so...for my Sunday lunch this week I made homeade pizza..well sorta homeade..

I had been drooling over the pizza on the cover of Family Circle all week long...so I knew this is what we would be enjoying today ;)

A mixture of regular sauce and some artichoke pesto marniara I already had ;)

A generous amount of freshly grated mozzarella...

Then smothered in pepperoni..

Bake and serve bubbly and hot!

Short & Sweet..

I don't find this to be a particularly flattering picture but I almost peed myself laughing so hard when I realized how little I look in my kitchen!! I NEVER notice how short I am but this is just hysterical...I understand now why strangers mistake me for a minor on a regular basis...kewllll.

(and yes I am wearing jack-o-lantern socks...I must do a post sometime on my seasonal sock collection..it is quite impressive )

Serve with salad and enjoy!

We kind of cheated on the whole family time...aspect of Sunday lunch because we enjoyed this in front of the TV while watching the SF Giants game...haha but it was enjoyed and I look forward to cooking again next Sunday!

Hope everyone had a fabulous and relaxing weekend!

XOXO- Miss. V
